Courses in winter term 2007/2008 / Bachelor seminar Artificial Intelligence:

Time: Wed. 14-16 ct
Location: C 213 Spl
2nd preliminary meeting: 17.10.2007
Start: 24.10.2007

The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) comprises those sub-disciplines of computer science concerned with the development of advanced systems, that can be classified into at least one of the following groups:

  1. Systems that think like humans,
  2. Systems that think rationally,
  3. Systems that act like humans, and
  4. Systems that act rationally.

Main areas of AI are

  • natural language processing,
  • knowledge representation,
  • automatic reasoning,
  • machine learning,
  • computer vision, and
  • robotics.

In this bachelor-level seminar we get know selected problems and methods from the field of artificial intelligence. As a starting point, the textbook "Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach" by Russell and Norvig is used. The seminar is especially suited for bachelor students who attended the lecture "Artificial Intelligence" last semester. However, this is no prerequisite.
