Frequently Ask Questions

Q1
Can I write my master thesis with a company?
We are happy to supervise a Master thesis jointly with our partner companies and also with new partners. The topic needs to have a clear relation to Machine Learning or Data Science and be at the current state-of-the-art, of course. Best describe the topic in an extended abstract (1.5-2 pages, describing the application problem, the data foundation, which machine learning problem it is, and what is novel, including some first references from the literature) and approach one of us about supervision.
Q2
Can I change my thesis title? What is the procedure?
If the title of the thesis changed, i.e., the final title is different from the working title on the registration form, the student needs to send an email to the examination office, Lisa Naumann pafbi@uni-hildesheim.de , and let her know that the title has changed from X to Y as agreed with the supervisor, setting the supervisor in cc. (It then automatically will be accepted.)
Q3
what to do after I defend my thesis?
First the supervisors need to write the reviews for the thesis and the defense and send it to the examination office and then the responsible will add your grade to the POS system. In order to send the final degree, a responsible from the examination office contacts the student regarding his last address. In order to ex-matriculate, the student needs to fill in the ex-matriculation form in this [link] and send it to the examination office iamt-4@uni-hildesheim.de
